Track-Switching RGV

The Track-Switching RGV Cart is a smart track-based transfer device that supports automatic switching between multiple tracks and cross-route transfer. Unlike standard single-rail and dual-rail RGV that run on fixed routes, this cart has an automatic switch mechanism. It can change tracks and routes between main tracks, branch tracks, and multiple parallel tracks.

This cart is used in complex automation lines with multiple parallel lines, multi-zone stations, multi-aisle warehouses, and cross-process transfer. One or multiple RGV carts share a network of tracks. This greatly improves equipment use and line flexibility. It is widely used in CNC clusters, precision assembly, smart warehouses, and cross-zone material transfer.

In workshops with multiple parallel lines, each line needs its own transfer equipment. Line A needs one RGV, Line B needs one, Line C needs another – this is a big equipment investment with low use rates. Material also cannot move between lines.

The Track-Switching RGV Cart solves this with automatic track switching. One cart can switch freely between multiple tracks. It delivers material on Line A, then switches to Line B, then to Line C. Equipment use is much higher. Material can move across lines. One warehouse customer told us that before, they needed five fixed-route RGV carts. After using switching carts, three carts did the same work. Equipment costs dropped by 40%. Track layout was also more flexible. They could change routes at any time based on business needs.

The cart travels on the main track. At a junction, it automatically recognises which branch track it needs. The switch mechanism aligns and locks automatically. The track connection is smooth with no gap. The cart moves into the branch track smoothly. The whole process is fully automatic with no manual help.

The control uses a PLC smart dispatch system. It can recognise tasks, plan the best path, switch tracks automatically, stop at fixed points, queue tasks, and wait. The switch points have precision sensors and mechanical locks. During switching, alignment is automatic and gaps are locked. The track connection is smooth with no gap. The cart body uses high-strength steel. Load capacity is high. The switch mechanism has balanced force and resists impact and wear.

It fits main-line, multi-branch, multi-parallel, and warehouse aisle layouts. A three-dimensional transfer network can be built flexibly based on station layout. The working temperature range is -10°C to 45°C. Safety features include switch interlocks, alignment detection, collision protection, limit stops, overload alarms, and sound and light warnings. If the switch is not in place, the track is misaligned, or a person is in the area, it locks automatically.
